Mac OS:

- Start Terminal from ApplicationsUtilities
- Type this without quotes sudo nano /etc/hosts and then press enter.
- Feed in Admin password when the system prompts for it and the hosts file will open up
- Locate lines with the text gs.apple.com using the Arrow keys and you need to add in front of them.
- Save the hosts file by pressing Control+O and close it.
- Now you can restore the iPhone 4 with respective iOS 4.2.1 update ONLY if you dont wish to wait for baseband unlock.
